Niagara Falls Humane Society is a non-profit organization relying on donations. Monetary donations can be made in the form of monthly gifts or a single gift. Donations are a great way to pay tribute to the memory of a loved one or to honour a special occasion.
We always need assistance to pay for our programs and services such as:
Shelter animal care: examples are spay/neuter, vaccines, heartworm testing, flea control, food, kitty litter, and other medical treatments for more than Three Thousand Animals that come through our doors on a yearly basis.
Emergency services: rescue of injured wildlife or other injured animals
Investigating Animal Abuse: we do not receive any funding for this service and it must be paid for solely by donations
Humane Education: presentations to teach children, young and old, about compassion, respect and responsibility
Daycamp: summer program for kids who love animals
Emergency Veterinary Care

Planned Giving allows you to organize your gift in a number of ways to maximize tax benefits and at the same time achieving personal financial goals while supporting a cause you believe in.
A planned gift to The Niagara Falls Humane Society can be set up for immediate use or for future use.
Some Planned gifts can be arranged to provide support to The Niagara Falls Humane Society and income to the donor.
Below is a list of planned gifts in place at The Niagara Falls Humane Society, each offering particular benefits to the donor.
Niagara Falls Humane Society encourages you to seek professional financial and/or legal advice before deciding on a course of action.
- Wills and Bequests
- Gift Annuities
- Life Insurance Policy
Wills and Bequests
A will ensures that your wishes of assets distributions are carried out. A charitable bequest is one of the most popular planned giving. A line or two to your will or a codicil appended to the existing will can provide The Niagara Falls Humane Society with a specific amount “I give The Niagara Falls Humane Society the sum of $$$$ to be used …” You can also give from assets (such as stocks) or a percentage your estate after other bequests have been paid.
A Bequest allows you to make a long-term commitment without affecting your current standard of living. It provides the comfort of knowing your assets are still available to you today. A donation receipt for the amount of the bequest can greatly alter the tax payable on your final return as the claim can be equal to 100% of your net income as opposed to the limit of 75% for living donors.
Gift Annuities are gifts that provide a guaranteed income for life, which can be largely or entirely tax free. Gift Annuity rates depend on your age and are best suitable for people over 70 yrs old, paying higher interest rates than G.I.C
Gift Annuities gives you the benefit of seeing how your donation is implemented in The Niagara Falls Humane Society. You may specify a program or project where the donation is to be spent.
Life Insurance Policy
The gift of a Life Insurance Policy allows you to give a large amount to The Niagara Falls Humane Society at a very low cost. By making The Niagara Falls Humane Society the irrevocable owner and beneficiary of a life insurance policy, you can be entitled to a donation income tax receipt for every premium you pay. Trusts
A trust is a legal agreement which irrevocably transfers property (cash, securities or real estate) to a trustee. A trust provides you with income throughout your life and after your lifetime the remainder of the trust principal will be put into use by The Niagara Falls Humane Society. Trusts are most beneficial when investing over $100,000.
