Adoption Status: Adopted Description:
After our recent ruff night fundraiser Jenn spent the night with Nick and has this to share : Nicholas is such a suck. We started off Ruff Night with a short walk up and down the driveway a few times and he was an absolute angel on his leash. It took a little coaxing for him to let me put the collar on but once he warmed up to me we were good to go. After our walk we settled into the kennel for the night and he immediately snuggled into me. We spent our entire night cuddling together. While we were asleep he was little spoon the whole time and when we were awake he just draped himself over my lap wanting ear scratches. Every time he had to use the bathroom in the night he went to the outdoor portion of his kennel. I even hung a blanket in front of the door to stop the breeze so I would be warmer and even with that blanket there he just nudged it aside and went out to do his business. He’s pretty calm on the barking side of things. Like any dog, he does bark but most of the time when the other dogs would get going he would just lift his head up to see what was going on and then go back to sleep. When he gets excited he DOES jump and he jumps like Michael Jordan. Every time I needed his attention I just crouched down to his level and he was immediately with me. He seems to know some basic commands. "Sit down", "stay", it may have been a coincidence but I think I even got a "shake a paw" out of him. We ended off our time together with a walk in the rain in the morning. He was more energetic after a good nights sleep but he was still great on his leash, especially for such a young age. Nicholas is just an amazing dog. He still needs to pack on a few more pounds but any home would be lucky to have him. I highly recommend he goes to a home with a spot on the bed for him. Nicholas came into the shelter in rough shape , he is doing well on his road to recovery! He is high energy and is eager to find someone to help teach him some manners. He will need to be in an adult home only. He has made great progress with the help of our volunteer dog walkers and he can’t wait to continue learning in his new home.

Dog Walker Linda enjoys spending time with Lily and shares this:Lovely Lily with her beautiful brindle coat, laughing eyes and bobbed tail!!!! She is just a riot, loves to run around in the pen and even choose her own toys from the bin. Lily is a lot of fun, I really enjoy taking her out!! She has such an zest for life, playing with the toys and throwing them in the air. She comes and sits for me and after a lot of exercise I can get her to heel on the driveway. She would be a wonderful addition to a family that is on the go, who would keep up her training and give her a forever home. Lily is too nice to be in the shelter, she deserves to live the rest of her life with a loving family. Come and see her she just might be the companion you’ve been looking for!!!!! Lily is very sweet towards people but prefers not to be restrained or have her feet touched. She will need a secure yard as she is a climber and would like her new home to be cat free.

Sloth

Type:
cat
Breed:
Domestic Short Hair
Colour:
Brown Tabby
Sex:
Male Neutered
DOB:
6 years plus
Adoption Status: Adopted Description:
Sloth is no ordinary cat ! He is the "Miracle Kitty" as the vet calls him.He has a diaphramatic hernia, where his abdominal organs move into an abnormal opening in the cat’s diaphram. As he was a stray we are not sure what caused this. He could of had a previous trauma or it could be congential. Sloth is looking for his someone special, He has won over the staff and he is such a big suck once he trusts you. He is easily spooked and would do best in a quiet home with no children or dogs.Sloth is a quirky , charming loyal friend who just can’t wait to meet you! Sloth is not comfortable with being picked up and is not a fan of being restrained as it is very uncomfortable for him due to the hernia.

He made me laugh a few times with his antics!!Max sure loved running around the pen burning off some of his energy. He is still a puppy so needs to learn his manners yet.

Begonia

Type:
cat
Breed:
Domestic Short Hair
Colour:
Black
Sex:
Female Spayed
DOB:
2 Years
Adoption Status: Adopted Description:
This is what Ray has to share about Begonia: "When Begonia, along with her sisters Geranium and Daffodil, first came here to the Adoption Centre, they were afraid and shy for a few weeks, and sought comfort from, and cuddled with, each other behind the couch. Begonia has made great social progress; while she is still very shy, she doesn’t hide behind the couch, only at the edge of a chair. With patience, gentle coaxing, and time she will interact with people as she allows herself to be pet and gently scratched. She is great with our other cat clients and she will make a wonderful family member, and just needs someone to show her love and patience. Once Begonia feels secure, she will be your very best friend and will want to be with you always. A sunbeam on a chair back would be very welcome by her."
