This is what Linda has to say about Angel: She is an angel no doubt about it!!!! She is very sweet, calm and gentle. Angel has the most luxurious coat, I gave her a good brushing and she never moved. I think she liked the pampering. We enjoyed a nice walk, she doesn’t pull at all but walked beside me some of the time. Kalvin and her sure were having fun running up and down the fence in the pens, there was no aggression between either of them. Angel is very attentive and learns new things quickly. She has an affectionate manner about her and would be a wonderful companion for someone not too worried about dog hair in the house!!!! Angel is truly a lovely girl!!!! Angel is sweet with people but not good with other dogs when they get too close. She is not friendly with cats. She loves to be brushed and is crate trained. She weighs 65 lb.

DOB:

Adoption Status: Adopted Description:
Nibbs is enjoying her stay in our communication director's office. The mice are staying away because she's on the job! Nibbs is such good company. She likes to hang out on your lap or in a nearby comfy spot. She has the softest fur, and the most magnificent tail (which she will tell you clearly to LEAVE ALONE). She loves to be petted when she's in the mood, but will give you a gentle nip to warn you when she's not. This is a fun, playful, assertive little lady who needs a forever family who understands that she knows what she wants!

Adoption Status: Adopted Description:
This is what Linda has to say about Kalvin: I’ve spent some quality time with this elegant looking guy!!!! He is heeling nicely for me on the driveway but sure can be stubborn to get him to sit!!!! He sure can run in the pen, but needs training not to jump up. He gets over stimulated in there and gets a little wild with his jumping!!! With more work I can see him settling down and behaving better. Kalvin is a nice looking dog with his glossy black coat and warm brown eyes. He can be affectionate and shows a sweet side too. He needs someone who would teach him good manners, give him a lot of exercise and keep up his training. I can see potential in him, he just needs some help to turn him into a calm, loving companion. Kalvin is a transfer from BARK in Louisiana. A kind supporter also shared her Kalvin story: I had come across the location of a recent BARK visit and was taken by two black dogs sitting quietly and calmly in their cages, while other dogs surrounding them were barking and howling. One dog was Kalvin, the other his sibling. I browsed, and took note of how calm they both seemed. The next day I brought my young family to see the dogs and there on a leash was one of the black dogs- Kalvin. He was looking around curiously, but always following the commands of the worker from Bark. He seemed calm and willing to wait until given his next command. We took him for a walk down the street with a volunteer. He was perfectly behaved, stopped to sniff and promptly followed when told to move on. He was good with my three young kids ages 9-13yrs. We decided to try an overnight adoption. I borrowed a collar, and crate ( it was too small for him) and was given food. Kalvin was well behaved and quiet in the car. Once home he was led to the yard without any fuss and promptly ran around the yard. Clearly he had energy, loved to play with balls and then would stop and stand to place his two paws around you, or sit and be pet or cuddled.. This was something he did with his main caregiver in Louisiana, and she would lift him and carry him like a baby. They had a close relationship. We took Kalvin for a long walk and also a run. He without fail followed all commands, walked next to us, and completely ignored other animals ie, dogs, cats, rabbits. Dog owners in the area remarked what a keeper he would be. Once home, we brought him inside, he calmy explored the house and sat to watch tv. He did not attempt to go up the stairs even though we encouraged him. He barked at the tv a bit, then sat and watched it with the family- apparently he had never seen tv. I noticed that he seemed to become very calm when he heard music. The next day I found out he has always heard music, and had never seen tv At bed time I managed to get him in the crate, at which point he whined. My husband let him out ( inexperienced dog people-we are) So we placed two blankets in the middle of the room rug, where Kalvin then settled for the entire night and slept. At 6:00 am he yelped a bit and I came downstairs to let him him outside to do his business, fed him and walked him again without any incident He is fine to put a leash/collar on. Remarkably, Kalvin had slept on the rug with his blankets, did not climb on the couch or chairs, did not chew on anything, did not roam the house or anything through the night. We were quite confident judging by his behaviour that he would be fine not crated, and asleep in the middle of a room, unsupervised. We returned Kalvin the next day after realizing that 3 of the 5 in the house were allergic to fur. It was completely heartbreaking to return Kalvin to Bark. When he arrived back at Pet Value where Bark was located, he heard the voice of his main caregiver from the program and started to wag his talk, squeal, yelp and put his paws around her waist, then she lifted him and held him like a child. It was the best experience we could have ever had with a dog. We think of him often and hope he will be brought home to a great family, with a yard he can run around in. He is a people dog, he is great with kids and other animals and he is a young boy easily trainable with great listening skills ( he is a young dog). He was left with his brother as new born pups left at the end of the BARK driveway on a hot day, so the only life he has known has been with BARK amidst other dogs and his main caregiver. She reported that when travelling, he would stay with her and sleep on the bed with her. Based on our family experience, I believe he would be a great addition and a seamless transition with any family- based on our own experience as inexperienced dog owners, but who have been around dogs or babysat dogs. I hope this enourages you to visit Kalvin, and get to know him to see if he might be a good fit for a loving forever home.
